David’s Bridal Embraces Today’s Social Savvy Bride with ‘My Event’

Screen shot 2013-01-28 at 10.18.26 AMAny bride or bride-to-be knows that David’s Bridal, whether you love it or hate it, is unmatched in the world of one-stop bridal shops. There’s no way around it – the place has got it all and it knows its market inside and out (see proof here).

That’s why it’s no surprise that the savvy bridal retailer has not only captured the offline market, it’s capturing the online one too through awesome e-commerce functionality and lots of social know-how, like its new online tool called My Event, developed in partnership with Night Agency, a full-service creative firm in New York.

My Event is a free online wedding planning tool that allows brides to plan their weddings from start to finish with a user-friendly interface that helps brides stay connected to friends and family throughout the planning process. David’s Bridal developed the tool for brides who are increasingly looking to social media for inspiration and collaboration to create a unique and personalized Big Day.

The social tool integrates use of Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter and allows brides to privately discuss wedding details with their parties, assign tasks to those involved in the planning and create shopping lists to be assigned and tracked. All of the details and progress are reported back for the bride in the centralized hub of the event. Some of the tools in My Event are:

Wedding Party – a private online space for communication with friends and family
Newsfeed – real-time updates and personalized discussions on wedding planning details
Shopping Lists – for wedding must-haves for the bride, bridesmaids, or anyone, and ability to keep track of purchases
Mood Boards – design boards that represent a bride’s vision of the event and for inspiration from the party and the “Public Gallery”
