Resource site for interior designers, Editor at Large, reported yesterday about a new social web platform for design enthusiasts which will help them to create their concepts online before bringing them to real life. And to make matters more exciting, there will be a super cool ecommerce platform involved.
The new platform, Project Décor, will be launching an “invite only” beta test on June 18 with more than 40 design brands involved, including Knoll, Jonathan Adler, Mirror Image and more.
Interactive boards will allow users to browse designer rooms, “tear” items they like, upload photographs of their room or furniture and combine them to create a personal design. Project Décor will offer consumers an avenue through which to purchase products that aren’t often easy to get as they are typically only available to the interior design trade. Many similar interior design platforms which allow consumers to play with decor and room layouts do not necessarily offer the option to buy those products, although some, such as MyDeco, certainly do.
“Decorating a home is an inherently collaborative process,” said Project Décor co-founder Andy Appelbaum. “Social Design with Project Décor makes it easy for consumers to share and collaborate with friends and family. Then, when users are ready to buy, there is a seamless e-commerce experience so they no longer have to run around to different stores or web sites to make their purchases.”
According to the Editor at Large article, the company has raised a $1.6 million seed round of financing, led by LaunchCapital and Founder Collective, as well as a number of angel investors.
