A new report from Radware called 2013 State of the Union: Mobile Ecommere Performance, asserts that mobile users are generally unhappy with the performance of top retail mobile sites. This dissatisfaction leads to a 97% abandonment rate in online shopping carts, the report says.
Conversely, by the end of 2013, mCommerce is expected to generate 16% of all online sales, a 68% increase from 2012. How can retailers ensure their mobile sites live up to expectations to stay in line with this prediction? With Black Friday and Cyber Monday approaching, the need to optimize mobile is even greater. Mobile sites are still falling short of their performance potential, and that could critically impact potential business revenue for the holidays.
The special Radware report also reveals some other findings around mobile site performance and results, such as:
– Mobile sites are on the rise, but 1 in 5 don’t allow visitors to access the full site
– The median full site page loads in 7.84 seconds, while the median mobile site page loads in 4.33 seconds. Mobile sites load 44% faster than full sites, but load time still fails to meet consumer expectations.
