The iconic red sole of Christian Louboutin‘s pricey heels suited 24-year-old Evelyn Fox, but there was something missing for this creative, former model.
Fox spent exactly half her life in the fashion world – beginning her modeling career at age 12 and spending the next decade on covers of magazines and doing commercials for major brands. Along the way, Fox developed her own style and a taste for high-end fashion, but couldn’t quite find what she wanted on the shoe racks of popular stores. So she took one of her favorite pairs of shoes and a couple thousand Swarovski crystals and went to work.
She affixed the crystals to the shoes and headed out. Fox said she constantly heard compliments on the shoes when she wore them; passersby asking where she bought the shoes. The light bulb went off and she decided to start a business selling shoes that were the ultimate in luxury.
Fox’s degree in Internet marketing helped her get the company, which she called “Crystal Heels,” off the ground. The brand officially launched in 2011, and according to a press release issued by the company, Crystal Heels have been in demand by celebrities, stylists, and discerning fashionistas like Sharon Osbourne and Camille Grammer. Soon her shoes will be going multi-channel: when StyleHaus opens at The Grove in Los Angeles early next month, tourists and locals alike will have the opportunity to shop for the shoes in person.
Fox’s team crafts each pair of shoes by hand in the United States, working from Fox’s original designs as well as filling custom orders, using shoes from high-end brands like Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, Dolce & Gabbana, YSL and more…and of course, Louboutin’s. This means Crystal Heels are all limited editions and come with certificates of authenticity, and many are one-of-a-kind designs.
The only catch? Their price point (anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000+) makes Christian Louboutins, already expensive, look like an affordable purchase.
