Infographic Alert: Are E-Commerce Sites Fast Enough for Mobile Shoppers?

It should come as no surprise that we want things fast and we want them now. Our current generation has been raised in an age of instant gratification, after all.

Gone are the days of snail mail. Instead of waiting 2-3 days for a response, you can expect an e-mail at the blink of an eye. You no longer have to play the waiting game with the AOL welcome screen; you can go to safari on your iPhone and find whatever you’re looking for almost immediately. You don’t have to page someone and wait for him or her to find a pay phone to return your call; you can send a text and receive a response instantaneously.

You get the picture. Today, everything moves at the speed of light, as it should be! But are our ecommerce sites quick enough for the Gen X-ers?

This infographic from Radware asks just that and finds some pretty surprising statistics:

– While 55% of all time spent with online retail sites occurs on a mobile device, only 16% of all online sales comes via mcommerce.
64% of smartphone users expect sites to load in less than 4 seconds or less, while in reality the average site takes 7.84 seconds to load.
~The abandonment rate for mobile shopping carts is 97%, compared to 70-75% for desktop carts.
