Tori Steinberg and Sophie Scrimgeour have brought their high fashion vintage clothing brand online. Elvira Vintage wants to be the next Net-A-Porter of the vintage shopping space.
The duo met in their teens and studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins. They set up their company only about a year ago, in April, 2012, selling designer vintage pieces to a small number of British-based customers. The two spend their time scouring the globe looking for pieces from famed brands like Celine and Valentino. In October, they hosted a London pop-up that offered locals the chance to shop their well-edited selection for two months. Now the e-commerce site is allowing access for everyone.
Elvira Vintage’s collection aims to complement present trends and work with contemporary wardrobes. Speaking out about the digital direction, Steinberg said to Vogue, “Visually, every product is presented in a way that shows our viewer how they can blend vintage pieces into the average high-street-heavy wardrobe.”
“Each piece has a story and has been discovered with a careful eye,” she said.
