Mobile devices are getting higher-tech by the minute, but they still have some limitations when it comes to high-quality video. Especially high-quality, live-streamed video.
At HSN.com, that’s a hugely important component of the business. A 24-hour TV channel is what the brand is all about, and they want their customers to have access to it no matter where they’re coming from. That’s one of the challenges Ed Deutscher, Director of Technology, is dealing with at the company. In fact, Apple initially rejected the company’s iPhone app, not because there were any problems with it, but because they had yet to decide on regulations for live streaming video content.
