According to data from Compuware, overall traffic was up on Black Friday compared with Thanksgiving, and mobile devices were a key component to increased retailer traffic. But results show that many retailers were not totally prepared for the spikes in mobile traffic on Black Friday, as users experienced page response times around eight seconds on both iPads and iPhones.
“Our data shows that an average page response time over 6 seconds increases page abandonment rate from 12% to over 20%, which will significantly impact many retailers revenue this holiday season,” said Steven Dykstra of Compuware APM’s Benchmarks Division.
